was really studying today. whole of afternoon at least.
thinking back... we aint tat fortunate with studying like now...
remember in psch days.. we have all these english, maths science and chinese to handle.
basically its studying of multiples and equations, names of science stuff, comprehension.. and those chinese words you always forgot to write.
its practising of those chinese words everyday, reading english books and practises on comprehension. memorise those maths and science equations blah blah blah..
mum locked out your video games and tv n phone, force you to drink chicken essence, your sister force you with psle papers, and your dad tells you off when u refuses to sleep.
the first thing in the morning you get a kick up call from mum and some breakfast too.
when it goes t0 sec school, it became worst.
more subjects, more vocabs, more equations, more chinese words and of cuz, more science terms. not to mention arts, geo, hist, tech, and SOCIAL STUDIES(for the unlucky batch of us)
i was happy that we wont tested on moral education.
when exams comes.. COMPUTER LOCKED, PS/SEGA LOCKED. TV LOCKED. Everyone seems to be so cooperative to take your attention away from your books. even my bed was locked. (haha.) your mum forces you with dozen of chicken essences, you dad come spot checks you every 15mins to see if you are sleeping, and your sister helps you to sharpen your erasers and your brother sponsors you with O Level test paper books. They pooled out a "tidbits" fund for sweets and snacks just to keep you awake. (or urself)
you just keep memorizing.. practising.. reading.. and do everything you can.
Somethings changed. they let you burn the midnight oil! they no longer grumble at you studying into the night. furthermore.. they let you call up your friend for solution. they even allow your friends to study with you.
WORST TO WORST, they employ tutors way before your exams comes.. and keep you accompany everything other day.
POLY LIFE is a great change. they no longer lock your computer (i need the com to get study materials mum!), your phone/hp( i needa call my friend for answers!) your video games~ (let me rest la.. i studied liaoz..) and never force you to drink chicken essence anymore. you can even go to your friends' hse to study. nobody will sponsor you tidbits and nobody will care about if you have been sleeping anot.
JUST STUDY until you drop. "I'm going to the school library to study~ i cant study at home!" and there you go.. from morning till night.. and they wonder if you are really studying. but when they see your tired face at the dinning table.. they just asking if you need some rest.. and nothing more. You can keep doing these day after day, and they will still not ask if you are playing or studying, thats up to you.
They will just peep at your playing your computer as thou u are working hard with those study materials (provided they dun understand what you are looking at). They will let you play hours of games when you return home and no words of complains. they think you deserve your rest after hours of study. even if you talk to your friends hours on the phone, and you just tell them "I'm discussing the past year papers la.. dun disturb" they will keep quiet and go away.
LOOK! i hoped that i can go back to the psch/sec sch days where there is someone who forces you to study and gives you treats for your hardwork. now, your family just trust whatever you are doing. you have grown up. how lucky we are. LETS WORK HARD PEEPS!
